a happy place.

I posted this quote a while back.
Months later, I think finally know what it means.
Many pushes and shoves have gotten me to where I am today.
Those people knew the way, even when I thought I was lost.
Those people are the best.
They kept me on my yellow brick road,
and now I can see it too and I am enjoying every step.

a jam packed weekend.

My weekend was jam packed and filled to the brim.
That's what happens when you realize you have been here longer than you have left.
It's crunch time...
Friday: An 80s coverband (the Legwarmers) concert
Let me just say that the 80s were so odd.
But the music that came from that era will never get old.
I threw on my neon pink tee and transported myself back in time.
We had way too much fun losing our voices as we sang along.

Saturday: Walking like a tourist
Whitney and I did not mess around on Saturday.
We started at Eastern Market for breakfast, and wandered all the way down to the Capitol.
We picked up our ice cream cones and diet coke,
and hit up the Air and Space Museum,
and followed that up with a Miro art exhibit

Saturday Night: Old town Alexandria
Twins for the win. Yes we were matching, and yes it wasn't planned.
We met up with Laura and Michael and some other peeps
in charming Old town Alexandria for dinner.

Sunday: Arlington
Sunday eve was spent walking through Arlington cemetery.
There is no place quite like it.
I am always so moved by the site.

I loved my weekend.
I'm a little tired, and a little worn,
my feet are a little sore,
but I wouldn't change any of it.

weekend on the lake.

Last weekend was spent at a cabin on a lake.
It was just the best.
We ate some seafood, did some yard work,
and took the little skiff boat for a spin.
It was so nice to be out of the city for a minute.
The only thing missing was my waterski and my boat driver (dad).

here to stay.

Today  I was supposed be arrive back in SLC.
Today I was supposed to see my family, my friends, and my dogs.
Today I would have said goodbye to DC.

Instead, today is just another day in the office.
Today I woke up in DC and will go to sleep in DC.
And I am so glad.
This summer has been the most unexpected, wonderful journey.
I'm not ready to let go of it just yet.

A man full of goodness.

The definition of Goodness:
the state or quality of being good.
moral excellence; virtue.
kindly feeling; kindness; generosity
excellence of quality.
the best bart of anything; essence; strength

I can't think of a better way to describe my dad.
He defines the word goodness in every way.
I love him so very very much.
Luckiest girl in the world right here.

A New York Minute.

This weekend I went to New York.
It was the greatest. (like always)
I got to spend time with two of my best friends.
I saw the amazing musical Once. (just won 8 Tony Awards!)
And really, just relaxed in the familiarity of home
that my New Yorker family gives to me.

Summer softball nights.

Let me first make a clarification,
I'm a softball supporter, not a player.
I'm doing them a favor, trust me.
So instead, Whit and I cheer while making laps around the Mall.
Everyone wins in the end.

Dear Shake Shack,
You lived up to all my expectations.
I'll be back.
Much love,

Solid Saturday.

Blue Buck pancakes,
Eastern Market,
and a Nationals game.
That is what I call a solid Saturday.
